Conservative Businessman Dave Schatz Announces for State Senate
Schatz cites conservative values and grassroots team in announcement
SULLIVAN, Mo – Conservative businessman Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan, has announced his candidacy for State Senate in the 26th District, which includes Franklin County and parts of St. Louis County. Schatz cited his experience in business and his record as a proven conservative in his announcement. He also named grassroots co-chairs and his campaign treasurer.
“If we are going to fix the problems that our state and our nation are facing, it is time we start electing leaders with real world experience to do the job, not more career politicians,” Schatz said. “We need leaders who are committed to creating jobs for the people, not politicians who are more worried about keeping their own taxpayer-funded jobs. As your State Senator, I will continue to put my business experience to work to create an environment where our economy grows and jobs are created.”
Schatz announced his grassroots co-chairs: former Senator Brian Nieves’ campaign manager Robbie Brouk and former Senator Jim Lembke. Schatz announced Zach Curtman will serve as his campaign treasurer. He also announced key agriculture, pro-life, and conservative leaders in support of his campaign.
“We need leaders who will stand up for our values, 100 percent of the time,” pro-life leader Fritzie Alferman said. “It is one thing to say that you will defend our values, but too often politicians only pay lip service to the values that make our families and communities strong. Dave has stood up for life, at every opportunity, unlike too many career politicians who choose pro-abortion special interests over protecting the unborn,” continued Alferman, who serves as the president and executive director for the Pregnancy Assistance Center in Washington, MO.
“I am proud to stand with Dave Schatz because Dave has stood with Missouri farmers time and again,” Franklin County Cattlemen’s Association Board Member Mike Carey said. “From protecting property rights to helping to repeal unconstitutional restrictions on how many animals Missourians can raise, Dave has shown the courage lacking in so many career politicians.”
“In the debate over serious issues like Common Core, Missourians are well represented by leaders like Dave Schatz. Dave is a family man who understands the critical importance of a good education for Missouri children. An education based on a curriculum that puts our children first and reflects our Missouri values,” said small business owner Kathie Zuroweste.
The 26th District is currently represented by Senator Brian Nieves, R-Washington. News outlets have widely reported that Nieves plans not to run for re-election this year. Schatz is a lifelong businessman, community leader, and family man. He lives in Sullivan with his wife Chara, and their children. He is active in his church and the community.
